Hello,
Yes, after 4 years of walking and 7 events for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, I must say that my feet are getting tired, but I am not giving up. This year being year 5 I will be participating in 2, Weekend to End Breast Cancer Events, Ottawa June 1 - 3, 2007 and Toronto September 7 - 9, 2007. More than ever I want to show my support to the ones struggling; honor the ones that have lost the fight, and celebrate the ones that have survived. I cannot walk away. Breast Cancer is not taking the year off and neither am I. This is a personal battle. 23 years ago, my father and myself were both battling cancer and have won the fight. In December 2004 my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and has won that fight. You just never know when and where it will strike.
I need your help! To be allowed to walk in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer you must raise $2,000, because I am participating in 2 events, I need to raise $4000. Please consider supporting me in one or more of the following ways. Donating money in my name on line ( www.endcancer.ca - select either Toronto or Ottawa and go to donate - type in my name and select). Make copies of the donation forms and giving them to your family and friends. Come on out to one of my fundraising events. Tee off for Titties is Saturday June 23, 2007 this event includes a round of golf, cart, dinner and prizes. Please contact me concerning this and other events.
Each city’s event supports specific hospital’s breast cancer centers. Monies raised through these events goes towards; much needed research, equipment, and support. The first year’s money was used to buy the first digital mammography in Canada. The second year’s money went towards opening the Campbell Center - a Survivors Support Center, the first of its kind. Each year this event has broken all fundraising records in Canada. Last year all seven events across Canada raised $46.9 million in one year.
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is an amazing event that has changed my life. I have been asked why? Why not only do the one? I have been thinking about this! I feel really grateful that someone was there for me and my family members when we were each diagnosed with cancer. Someone else had stepped up to the plate for us, either with donations that had paid for the research and the medical support of the time, or the emotional support. This is my way of saying thank you for caring.

Common Breast Cancer Myths
The first myth pertaining to this disease is that it only affects women.
Second myth that is associated with this disease is that if one has found a lump during an examination, it is cancer.
Third is that it is solely hereditary
The next myth associated with breast cancer is downright ridiculous. Would you believe, that in this day and age, some individuals still think that breast cancer is contagious?
Conversely, some individuals foolishly believe that breast size determines whether or not one gets cancer.
Finally, another myth that is associated with this disease is that it only affects older people. This is not so. Although the chance of getting breast cancer increases with age, women as young as 18 have been diagnosed with the disease.
